2008 and 2009 Southern Sky Tours

Copyright W John McDonald

Attending the 2008 Southern Sky Fiesta tour with my wife Wendy was a truly memorable event. Wendy is mostly a day person and went hiking and horseback riding. I did some daytime activities with her (boat tour of a mangrove swamp, hike in the rain forest and a tractor ride over the Ensenada farm). However, I spent most nights out till dawn and was thrilled with the views of the southern sky. I saw the LMC, Crux, the Coal Sack, Omega Centauri and much more for the first time and it was great. Gary Seronik led the tour and provided excellent talks and binocular sky tours. Wendy told me we were going again next year and so we did.  The 2009 experience was even better simply because we knew what to expect and could enjoy things without getting too excited.
