We are no longer accepting applications for regular membership as our executive board is full. However, we're always looking for youth interested in other volunteer opportunities. It's easy: No application forms, no long-term commitments. If you identify yourself as a youth, live in Greater Victoria, and want to make a difference, we welcome you to help us do so. The easiest way to become involved is to join our mailing list by sending Chelsea (our coordinator) an email at victoriayouthcouncil@shaw.ca. You can also reach us via telephone at 361-0360 Ext. 9688. For public meeting times, please see our News page. Aside from making the world better (modesty is not one of our values), the CVYC can help you fulfill your own personal dreams. Not only do we have direct communication with the City of Victoria, established relationships with members of the media and financial support from local and national sponsors, we also have a lot of fun. And potato chips, sometimes. Aside from all that, members of the Youth Council have been able to take part in unique learning experiences, from anti-oppression and facilitation workhops, to research information sessions, to one-on-one Q & A talks with local city councilors and staff. We've also met with off-Brodway stars (Charles Ross), local MPs and MLAs (Denise Savoir, Keith Martin) and the Governor of Canada (Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean). In return, we want your participation. Volunteers of the Youth Council are invited to give feedback and insight in their areas of knowledge, and help us work on projects we take on. Having said that, all of our volunteers are incredibly busy outside of the Youth Council, and we understand if interested parties are unable to contribute outside of meetings, or unable to attend every month. Whatever you can contribute is appreciated just your interest helps us grow. So, What's This Youth Council You Keep Talking About? Still want more info? Check out the about us page.
