I want to be able to take friends and family up for sightseeing, and maybe go flying to some faraway places. Professional Pilot I want to be an airline pilot, flying for one of the bog airlines, and be able to see the world. Requirements for Private Pilot License The requirements for issue of a Recreational Permit or Private Pilot License are described in the Canadian Aviation Regulations(CARs) and can be summarized as follows: Medical Fitness: You must meet certain medical requirements. If you are in good health you need expect no problems. Some people discover they are partially colour blind and this might restrict them to day flying only. Your eyesight must be correctable with required lenses, and contact lenses are OK. To maintain your Recreational Permit, you must pass a routine medical every five years. The Private Pilot License requires a medical every five years if you are under forty, and every two years if you are over forty. We can recommend a Civil Aviation Medical Examiners. Knowledge: You must demonstrate your knowledge by obtaining at least sixty percent in a written examination on the subjects you will study in the ground school classes. Skill: When your training is completed, your instructor will recommend you for a flight test, during which you will demonstrate your ability to perform normal and emergency maneuvers appropriate to the aircraft being used in the test. |

Transport Canada's minimum training requirements Air Regulations Flight Instruments Theory of Flight Radio & Electronic Theory Meteorology Flight Operations Airframes, Engines and Systems Navigation Human Factors 45 hours of flight training consisting of not less than: (Use aircraft :C-150) -17 hours of dual training including: (a) 3 hours to be acquired during cross country flight (b) 5 hours instrument flying -12 hours of solo flight including: (a) 5 hours acquired during cross country flight (b) cross country flight of not less than 150 nautical miles with two stops on route The minimum training requirements are outlined above, the average student that applies them self diligently can expect to get their license close to these minimum's. To hold a Private Pilot License you must be 17 years of age and possess a Cat 1 or Cat 3 Medical License. |
