Incon
Twin Turbo, Stock Shortblock
She's Gonna Blow!!!

STAND BACK!!! She's gonna BLOW! So, this was my "main" project for 2004. Since selling the 460 engine out of the black car, and having a complete Incon twin turbo kit sitting on a pretty good 5 litre motor, I decided to toss the motor into the black car to see what it will do. As always, I did have a specific goal in mind. I set this one higher then normal though. I wanted to see the car run 138mph in the quarter. I wanna see for myself how far a stock 5.0 shrotblock can go! So far, the car has run an incredible 11.11 at 132 mph on STREET TIRES. Yep, BFG Radial TA's ! No cheater slicks, no drag radiasl, real street tires, pump gas, at 3500 feet of Calgary elevation. I am VERY happy with that UPDATE!!
The car not only ran the 138 mph I wanted, but exceeded it easily with
a 139.75!! I am having a couple issues when trying to run over 16 psi boost. I am suspecting the stock wastegate actuators are pulsating, or not in sync at this level, OR perhaps the valve springs/lifters are not upto the task at this level. Over the winter, I will upgrade the F303 cam, springs, retainers, and wastegate actuators |
| Here it is, in the car, clean, purple, and ready to rock. First time out, bouncing off the rev limiter, on real street tires and pump gas, it ran 12.3 @ 126 mph, with absolutley no tuning (7 degrees base timing, 40 psi fuel pressure) | ![]() |

Incon Twin turbos awaiting re - installation. The kit was purchased new about 3-4 years ago, and lived a happy life on a stock shrotblock 5.0. This kit was the best on the market bar none. Too bad that Incon went out of business. The kit was complete with cast manifolds, molded silicone plumbing, 80mm blow through MAF, stainless fasteners etc.... Truly amazing value for its time. In fact, I see these kits sell for more used then I paid new |

The "kamikaze pilot". A stock shortblock 302, with just a windage tray, new rings (total seal) and F303 camshaft. The heads are "only" Edelbrock Performer (with the 1.90 valves), and the cheapo energizer rocker arms. The intake is a TFS Track Heat (not in the picture), with a 75mm t-body, stock modified fuel rails, and holley regulator. This motor has already had a hard life, making 540 rwhp 530 tq on my dyno, and running 127mph in a full weight LX hatch. Cross your fingers. ;~) |

The "old" 460 out for the last time. The black car is a proven performer, that 60 foots well, and has good drag race suspension with wolf sway bar, and coilovers up front. It is also lighter then the old turbo car by about 400 pounds! If my math is right, I need 60 more horsepower to run the 138 mph I want.... are you keeping track? That translates to 600 rwhp if I ran the same tremec I did before.... but the actual numbers will be lower because I am using the bulletproof Tobler built TH400 trans, and TCS 9" converter. |

Soooo, that is basically the plan. Stuff the Incon twin turbocharged 5.0 into the black car. Fuel cell will feed twin external walboro 255lph pumps, "Y"'d together to a single #6 line, feeding the stock slightly modified rail. I will be running the stock A9L computer with one of my chips. Because as always, I am at the verge of bankruptcy ;~), 42# injectors, and a little bit of boost ;~) And yes.... I do fully expect to split this block this year....hopefully later rather then sooner ;) UPDATE! The block made it to the end of the season. I will push it further yet in the spring! |
