Bell Boy boats were developed by personnel at Bellingham Shipyards during the Korean War. Besides producing some of the earliest fiberglass pleasure craft boats, they were also building mine sweepers for the U.S. Navy. Bellingham Shipyards was the only private shipyard in the Nation to be awarded the Navy's 6 E award "for excellence".

Mr.Ed Monk Sr. was the Naval Architect who designed the hulls, and Art Nordtvedt produced the cabin/topsides. Ed Monk's son continues today as Architect for QueenShip, and Art Nordtvedt left Bell Boy in 1957 to create"Uniflite" boats.

Art Nordtvedt joined the shipyard to help with the WW II efforts Until 1953 and then was the General Manager of Bellingham Shipyards, and production manager For Bell Boy boats.

This site concerns the early Bell Boy classic fiberglass boats built by Bellingham Shipyards. At some point Bell Boy had moved or was sold to American Marine Industries in Tacoma, Wash. and futher boats were produced with the Bell Boy's name from 1960-1983?
