Should Master Of Hounds not take well to Belmont dirt, I'm going to Brilliant Speed [familiar with Belmont and great GSV scores], Shackleford [always dangerous] and Stay Thirsty [very high DamGSV score and has raced on the track] in that order.  I have respect for Animal Kingdom, but offers no value and has not proven he can run on the Belmont surface or at a track that is a mile and a half in distance.  If the track is sloppy, I'll also use Santiva as his Smarten connection has firm roots in off tracks at Belmont and this might be enough to tip the balance in his favor.  Unfortunately, Ruler On Ice won the Belmont.  He is a horse I would never have used, not can I explain the result except tht his trainer is a better trainer than the rest with a non-stamina pedigree than I have seen in many moons or the race was a complete aboration.  Mind you it was the slowest Belmont save 1995 [Thunder Gulch], 1970 [High Echelon] and then back all the way to 1944.  Clearly, the lack of steroids has produced a group of 3yo's so far [save possibly Uncle Mo] that would never have placed in any Derby, Preakness or Belmont for at least 16 years.

California Raises Exotic Takeouts!

Much harder to bet serious money in California.  More bang for the buck in poker now.  Increasing the takeout will not increase the size of the fields unless you believe more taxes saves you money.

It is clear that most trainers today cannot train horses to go a mile and quarter at a high level {measured by time, not Graded status} without EPO, Clembuterol, steroids, etc.  In fact, they do not train horses.  They manage horse careers like an agent.  A lot of winning results are through natural ability, passable rides and agent-trainers and most importantly, "every race must have a winner".  This year the Kentucky Derby winner might run 2:08 or slower.

Australia: Black Caviar wins the Lexus-Group 1.  First Australian mare to win her first ten starts.  The best female sprint performance I have ever witnessed.  Her last splits were 10.30, 10.27 and 10.65, the rest nowhere.  She already was the highest rated mare ever at sprinting and she ran the fastest time ever in the race at 6 furlongs in a touch over 1:07 being eased.  Her jockey Luke Nolen stated, "She's every jockeys dream.  She has a high crusing speed and then an incredible turn of foot on top of that."  This is the kind of horse that cannot get in trouble.

Did you know Keeneland begins on April 8th and it is the track that the GSV and GSV2 scores have always done the best.  This is because Keeneland always attracts the best bred thoroughbreds in North America and has one of the lowest takeouts in the nation.  The perfect storm to generate profits

Zenyatta = [GSV=79.84][GSV2=84.84] Wins 19 of 20 lifetime starts

The principle behind the GSV is that the "best bred horse has a genetic advantage in its races until its form has established that it did/did not get its fair share of genetic strength."  Music Video of Zenyatta
