First, let's fine tune your computer. You can easily do
this at
www.pcpitstop.com
free of charge. When you get to the site click on the Full Test's link
on the left hand side. It is important to follow the instructions when
running these test's. Don't worry, I do it all the time!
Make note of any issues. If you are having trouble
fixing the problem drop me an email and I will do my best at resolving
your issue. Most things in there are pretty straight forward. Like for
instance, if you've got IE security issues get to your windows update
pronto! If it states that you could use more ram. Purchase more ram!
Want to see if your computer is open to hacker's? Go to
https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
and run both the "TEST MY SHIELDS" and "PROBE MY PORTS" to make sure
your computer is secure.
There is a great program that CNET has put out that checks for
updates for all of the installed programs running on your computer.
Keeping up with application updates is sometimes a daunting task, and
sometimes, never done! Keeping your software updated is fairly
important. Manufacturer's are always improving the way their
software works on a specific operating system. This is a win win
situation. First thing you have to do is download and install a
small utility. After that you would go to
http://catchup.cnet.com/ to run various scans such as
security updates and ad-ware detection as well as the software updates.
Use the same link to first download the catch up program.
Last but not
least. Nowadays you HAVE to get into the habit of scanning for viruses
on your system. Anything you download and ESPECIALLY those darn email
attachments. They are the worst for having viruses. If you have an
anti virus program running on your system, great! But make SURE that
the .dat files are regularly updated! On average there are 16 new
viruses out each day. Sad but very true. If you don't have any anti
virus software you're in luck. Scoot on over to
http://housecall.antivirus.com
for an online virus check. You can do your entire drive or just a
folder. So now there is no excuse! Get into the habit or you'll be
unnecessarily formatting your hard drive!
Some helpful
tips!
If you haven't already got google on your toolbar
than you are missing out on the best search engine on the internet!
It's easy to install so there is no excuse not to
get it! Move yourself over to
www.google.com
and then click on "google toolbar". Follow the onscreen instructions and
make sure to install it with the advanced options.
That's it! Try typing in a question.
It works great!
