Sky High

Will Stronghold is full of teen angst about friends, grades, and girls... in other words, Will is just another suburban teen about to start high school.  If that isn't enough to deal with, Will has the added pressure of being the third generation of the Stronghold family to attend the esteemed & celebrated Sky High, elite high school that is entrusted with the responsibility of molding today's power-gifted students into tomorrow's superheroes.  The problem is that Will is starting his freshman year without any super powers of his own &, worst of all, instead of joining the ranks of the "Hero" class, he finds himself relegated to being a "Sidekick." Labeled a sidekick, Will is bullied by the jock with the power to stretch, humiliated by a kid with super speed, stalked by the outcast who shoots fire from his hands, & teased the cheerleader who can replicate herself into an entire cheer squad. Worst of all, he must hide all of his troubles or face the disappointment of his parents, the crime-fighting duo: The Commander & Jetstream the most revered & beloved superheroes in the business today.  Sky High fun for the whole family.   Also starring Kurt Russell & Kelly Preston.                         Rated G 1hr 40

Ladies in Lavender

Finally, the wait is over!!  Phenomenally acted, exquisitely scored, and ultimately moving, Ladies in Lavender impresses with its intricate and intimate portrait of kindness and yearning.  Two aging spinster sister, played by the superbly & wonderfully talented Dames Maggie Smith & Judi Dench, have their peaceable Cornwall existence of beach walks, reading, sewing, and tea time disrupted when they take a young Polish violinist into their care. After a particularly violent storm, they awake to find young man, Andrea, half-drowned and badly injured on the beach.  The girls nurse him back to health and for one of the sisters it's a case of first love far too late in life.  She helps him overcome the language barrier, only to possibly lose him to a younger woman, the gorgeous visiting artist who recognizes his musical talent and is in a situation to help him.  Ladies in Lavender is full of brilliantly subtle performances of stunning skill and beauty that is a definitely a must see.                                                                                                                                                                                                    Rated G  1hr 45
