"Tyler", born December 1998, bred by Karen Lee. Tyler was our stud fee puppy from Gilly's final litter and, although Karen tried to talk us out such an obnoxious puppy, we couldn't resist him. At his first show at six months of age, he took Best of Breed over Specials. He finished at 7 months of age with two Breeds over Specials and a 5 points Best of Winners at the Canadian National Specialty. First weekend out as a Special, he won all three 3 Breeds and a Group 2nd. Tyler quickly finished his Can.Field Championship and took a 1st and a 2nd placement his first weekend of ASFA coursing. After a shoulder injury, Tyler retired from lure coursing. In 2002, we entered Tyler in CWA straight racing and he earned ARX points in his first two meets. Tyler missed most of the next year due to his chronic shoulder injury. It was an uphill battle to keep him sound, but thanks to wonderful vet care and twice weekly swimming sessions, he finished his Racing Championship and his Dual Purpose Excellent titles in November 2004. Tyler is a wonderful, outgoing, exhuberant character who always keeps us on our toes. Visit the Surrey Hill whippets.
In February 2007, Tyler went to live with Linda's parents, who had just lost "Willy". He seems very happy in his new home with two people to dote on him 24 hours a day - he's very much king of the castle!
Sadly, Tyler wasn't able to live a wonderful long retirement life, as cancer took him from us on June 19, 2008. He was one of those dogs whose very presence filled a room - all that muscle and power - to say nothing of the huge personality that went along with that body, which was equally enthralling. The most stubborn, self-determined dog we've ever had the pleasure of sharing our lives with - his presence is so very much missed. You were taken so soon, TT, we barely had time to say goodbye.
