WHAT'S NEW AT SWIFTSURE FOR 2011


**YEAR END** - KAI, AM.CAN.CH.WHIMSY'S SWIFTSURE KILO KAI, ended 2011 as the #4 Show Whippet in Canada, the #1 CWA Conformation Whippet and along the way added her PR (Performance Racer) title and placed in her first lure coursing meet!   CRUZ, CH. WHIMSY'S SWIFTSURE CRUZAN GOLD, made a couple of ring appearances and was Specialty BOS to his sister at two specialties in Canada and went Best of Winners at the Western Washington Whippet specialty for another 4 point major.   Cruz needs only 3 singles to finish in the US.  Their sire, Bongo, produced a couple more beautiful litters and we look forward to watching these babies hit the ring and the track!   We were on the road for 125 days traveling to our favorite spots and very much enjoyed our travels.

**December 9** - Auld Lang Syne show, Chilliwack, BC - our last show of the year and Kai takes another BEST OF BREED.

**November 26/27**- Elsie Murray shows, Cloverdale, BC - KAI wins two Best of Breeds, GROUP 4th and GROUP 2nd in very strong Hound Groups!

**November 19**- Roseburg, OR - KAI does us proud and wins BEST OF WINNERS under Sharon Krogh for 2 points and finishes her AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP!

**November 17**- Roseburg, OR - back down to Oregon for some relaxation on the beaches and taking in some shows. &nsp;KAI goes WINNERS BITCH under Stephen Hubbell and now only needs one point to finish her American Championship!

**October 29/30**- Abbotsford, BC, Lower Mainland Shows at Tradex, we showed ALCYON THAT'S THE TICKET for Christine Hopperstad and went WINNERS DOG and BEST OPPOSITE OVER SPECIALS both days to finish his Can.Championship!

**October 13 - Boise, Idaho - on the road again!   CRUZ and KAI both win their Bred By Classes and go MAJOR RESERVE WINNERS!

**October 7/8 - Fraser Valley KC - KAI back in the ring after several months layoff and she does us proud with 3 Best of Breeds and GROUP 2ND and GROUP 3RD.   Thanks to judges Everett Dean and Sheila Verhulst.

**September 12 - September 29 - away again, this time for pure pleasure in the RV on the Oregon Coast.   Time to relax and enjoy watching the dogs enjoying every moment on the beautiful beaches.

**August 24 - September 9 - off on a great RV adventure to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the CWA Racing National.   KAI does us proud and goes BEST OPPOSITE SEX ADULT in the Annual Fun Match, under breeder judge Patience Renzuli.   KAI also places 3rd (Rhonda Gold) and 2nd (Sheri Mason) in the conformation portion after racing for two days.   KAI is currently the #1 CWA Conformation Whippet!

**August 19 - very happy to announce the arrival of BONGO's latest litter, out of Christine Hopperstad and Mary Downing's lovely Alcyon Tykhi Fortuna - nine gorgeous babies, 5 boys and 4 girls.

**August 6 - Western Washington Hound Specialty, Auburn, WA - today was CRUZ's turn to shine - WINNERS DOG and BEST OF WINNERS for a 4 point major, under breeder-judge Susan Badick!

**August 5 - Western Washington Whippet Specialty, Auburn, WA - KAI wins a very competitive Bred By Exhibitor class at the Specialty!

**July 22 - Pacific Kennel Club, Surrey, BC - we showed KAI one day only this weekend (we went racing instead!) and she came home with BEST OF BREED and GROUP 2ND, under Edward MacDonald!

**July 16 - Sighthound Club of BC Specialty, White Rock, BC - KAI stayed home this weekend but we still got to play in the ring, this time with Jeanette Dorsey's wild child, Kimera's Four Freedoms.  Trevor goes WINNERS DOG, BEST OF WINNERS, BEST OF BREED and BEST PUPPY!


**July 7/8/9 - Vernon BC - KAI takes Best of Breed all three days at the Vernon KC shows.

**July 3 - Mission, BC - LMWA Specialty lure course and Field Trial Show.   WOW - WHAT A WEEKEND!!   "KAI" enters her first lure course and earns a 3rd place, with the highest final run score in her stake and then goes straight to the show ring and wins BEST OF BREED at the Field Trial Conformation Show, judged by Helen Brettell... a weekend we won't forget for awhile.   This makes KAI the #1 SHOW WHIPPET IN CANADA (at this date).


**July 2 - Abbotsford, BC - Lower Mainland Whippet Club back to back Specialty shows - "KAI" takes BEST IN SPECIALTY at BOTH SPECIALITIES and there's more.... her brother, "CRUZ" goes BEST OPPOSITE SEX at BOTH SPECIALTIES, beautifully presented by Lorna Leinbach and little half-sister, "ROXY" makes her Altered Debut and goes WINNERS BITCH!  Thanks to judges Chris Abraham and Janis Leikam!

 

 


**June 17/19 - Nanaimo KC, BC - "KAI" takes two BOB's and a GROUP 2nd , under Judge K. Kaemling.

**June 11/12 - Comox KC, Vancouver Island, BC - "KAI" takes the breed at all four shows and on to TWO GROUP 1sts and TWO GROUP 2nds!  Group wins under Sandy Fletcher and Brent Wright.

**May 21/22** - Mt. Baker KC, Washington - "CRUZ", Kai's brother, goes RESERVE under sighthound breeder-judges, Gary Newton and Barbara O'Neill.


**April 24 - Lewiston, Idaho - "KAI" goes BEST OF WINNERS and now lacks only 2 points for her Am. title!

**April 22 - Lewiston, Idaho - "KAI" goes WINNERS BITCH , under Col. Purkhiser.

**April 8 - Renaissance Show, Chilliwack, BC - "KAI" takes another Best of Breed!

**April 8 - Aristocrat Hound Specialty, Chilliwack, BC, "KAI" takes Specialty Best of Breed and GROUP 3rd in a huge Hound Group, under Mary Lou Harris.

**March 24/26/27 - Three more BOB's and Group 3rd for "KAI" at the Oceanside shows in Maple Ridge.   Still holding her position as the NUMBER ONE WHIPPET IN CANADA!


**February/March - We can't even keep up with the titles that Laura Baratta and her "SMOKE" (Ch. Swiftsure Cameroon, F.Ch, DPC, TRPX, PR3, SR, OTR, MADC, MJDC, AGDC, AGN, AGNJ, R.A.) are earning!   Smoke finished his MADC (Masters Agility Dog Dog of Canada) title in January, followed by AGDC (Advanced Games Dog of Canada).  In February, this dynamic duo entered their first Rally trials and earned their Rally Novice obedience title R.N.,then back to Agility with MJDC title (Masters Jumpers Dog of Canada).  They moved up to Rally Advanced and completed that title in March with High in Class!  Smoke and Laura rock!!



**March 3 - Sad day at Swiftsure as we said goodbye to our beloved "SARAH", Swiftsure Petticoat Junction, just short of her 15th birthday.   Sarah was our keeper show puppy from Starbucks and Whitney but she suffered a badly shattered hock at 5 months of age and was never able to be shown or raced - she was meant simply to be loved and we couldn't part with her.   When Linda's parents lost Reba a couple of years ago, Sarah went to live with them and was the absolute treasured princess in that household.   Sarah leaves behind two families with broken hearts - God Speed Sarah-Jane - you were so loved and gave that back tenfold.


**February 25/26 - Lower Mainland DFA, Cloverdale, BC - "KAI" continues her winning ways with Best of Breed both days and another GROUP FIRST , this time under breeder-judge Lesley Hiltz!   She's currently the NUMBER ONE WHIPPET IN CANADA!

**February 18/29/20 - Mt. Cheam KC, Chilliwack, BC - "KAI" is on a roll, Best of Breed all three days plus GROUP 3rd, GROUP 4th and GROUP FIRST!  


**January 28/29/30 - BC Ladies KC - First shows of the year for our beautiful "KAI" (Can.Ch. Whimsy's Swiftsure Kilo Kai) and she takes BEST OF BREED all three days and TWO GROUP 3RD's.


**January 17 - Puyallup, WA shows - Today we showed the brindles!   "CRUZ" (Can.Ch.Whimsy's Swiftsure Cruzan Gold) won a tough Bred By Exhibitor class and went RESERVE WINNERS DOG.

We were thrilled to take WINNERS FEMALE with the beautiful little Bongo/Julia daughter RUMBA (Vivace A Little Rumba Numba) owned by Debbie LaMonica!

We weren't done yet, with CORBIN making his Specials debut and coming away with BEST OPPOSITE SEX ! What a GREAT weekend!



**January 16 - Puyallup, WA shows - CORBIN (Whimsy's Swiftsure Coruba Gold) goes WINNERS DOG to FINISH HIS AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP!   CORBIN was shown only 10 times and finished with 3 majors including 2 Specialty BOW awards!   Thanks to owners Chadd and Misty Bowen for letting us show him!



**January 15 - Puyallup, WA shows - CORBIN (Whimsy's Swiftsure Coruba Gold) wins a big Open Class.
