Salt Spring Island Folk Dance Festival

Invitations to the festival were sent out in early January 2013.

In 2013, the fee will be $160 CDN (or US).

Festival registration is capped at 95 dancers -- early registration is strongly advised.

The festival includes dance classes, reviews, 2 scrumptious lunches, party, dinner feast and so much fun.


Bursaries

A few bursaries are available, primarily for students. If you are a young person, and a bursary would help make the difference for you to be able to come and share the joy of dance, please be in touch with the Registrar.

These bursaries are valued at either half ($80) or the full ($160) registration fee.

Thanks is extended to anonymous dancers who offers the bursaries.

Should you be interested in offering a bursary to someone in need, please express your desire to help to the Registrar.

Your E-mail ID and other personal information will be kept private; it will not be shared with any other person, agency, or company.


Policy about cancellation and/or substitution

The Festival does not extend refunds or credits. However, a wait-list will be maintained, in strict order of first-come-first-serve.

If you have registered, and then for unforeseen circumstances, you must cancel, please contact the Registrar.

The procedure is as follows:

• The Registrar will introduce you by email to the dancer at the top of the wait-list.
• You are to connect with that person, see if they would like your place. If they can, then you are to arrange for them to reimburse you your registration fee.
• Once an agreement is reached, you should email the Registrar, "cc:" to the wait-listed dancer, with notification. Your email should include the name, address, phone number, and email address of your substitute.
• Should the dancer you have been introduced to by the Registrar be unable to take your spot, there is an orderly procedure. Inform the Registrar, who will introduce you to the next person on the list.
• Once all dancers on the wait-list have been approached with an opportunity to take someone's place, only then will it be appropriate protocol for you to offer your registration to anyone else. This situation does happen some years during the week preceding the Festival.
• If you are successful in finding someone to take your place, let the Registrar know, and provide details. Hopefully it won't be too late to make new name tags!
• If you are not successful, then please feel good that even though you cannot be with us, that your registration fee is supporting a wonderful event!
