Plane Gallery

A woodworking plane consists of custom-cut steel blades, a wedge to secure the blades, a body and, sometimes, a tail. A pointed end is called a Swallow-Tail and a rounded end is a Squirrel-Tail. A plane can be one inch in size or almost seven feet long. Planes are used to shape, create and decorate everything from musical instruments to window-sills.
