The Double J Railroad

Jamesville and Jirard

Bob Hoey's North American layout built in a loft in St. Andrews, Scotland
(golfers, eat your heart out)

Bob's Bachmann A.T.& S.F. ten wheeler has an easy pull through the rolling foothills but harder work is ahead in the mountains. Bob uses plaster-soaked paper towels over salvaged styrofoam to shape his North American scenery. Then he adds greenery, including trees made from the branches of an artificial Christmas tree purchased at a car boot sale.

Getting into the mountains, the scenery is becoming more rugged as an Aristo-Craft Santa Fe UB 25 pulls a string of Bachmann passenger coaches in W.P.& Y.R. colours past an LGB Stainz 0-4-0 with LGB log cars in tow.

The UB 25 pulls a train which includes an Aristo-Craft box car and triple dome tanker and a Bachmann tanker seen here passing more of Bob's rugged scenery. For water, Bob uses varnish over a prepared bed in the time-honoured tradition.
