I've explored Southeast Asia, Europe and Canada but lately find myself staying still. With a toddler, a trip to the park can feel like a grand adventure.
I was born in Calgary, grew up in Guelph, and moved to Montreal as soon as I could. Somehow I escaped the madness of that city with a degree in anthropology and women's studies from McGill.
I moved West for green winters and enrolled in the Writer's Studio - a year-long creative writing program at Simon Fraser University. The knowledge is still setting in.
Home these days is Vancouver, where I live with my family and our high-maintenance cat. I work at the Vancouver Public Library and at Event magazine as assistant to the managing editor.
I dream of small towns.
Writing is always the hardest thing to get to. Last on a very long list.
When I get to it I like to write fiction, flash fiction and creative non-fiction, which I loosely define as true stuff with enough embellishment to make it interesting.
