Welcome to the Victoria Model Railway Club web site! We are located on Vancouver Island in Victoria, British Columbia. Although we do not have a permanent location for a layout we do have two portable, sectional layouts (O scale and HO scale) that we take to shows. On occasion we are fortunate to have the use of empty stores in local shopping malls to setup the layouts for extended periods. The club formed a number of years ago, holding weekly round robin "meetings" at various members homes. In the early years members exercised their love of model railroading by constructing a well detailed HO model railroad layout for the enjoyment of residents of Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health in Victoria. That layout still exists today and is maintained by the club in return for the use of a conference room for club meetings. Our goal is to promote the model railroad hobby by sharing our efforts with folks of all ages. The Victoria Model Railway Club is a member of the Arts Council of British Columbia. Club meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month from September to June at Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health. In June 2005 we concluded a long stay with the HO layout on display (over two years!) at the Thrifty Foods, Admirals Walk shopping centre at 1495 Admirals Rd. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the management and retailers of Admirals Walk for allowing us to be there for such a long time. As well, a great big thank you to all of the visitors that came out to see us. It was a lot of fun and we hope to have an opportunity to go on extended display again in the future.
