History of a Line
The history of Romance Ranch and it’s line of fine Arabian Horses starts back in the early 1960’s. At that time David Pitka was raising Shetland Ponies and Saddlebreds on his ranch near Romance Saskatchewan. He had long before realized that horses were his passion. In 1964 he acquired the first of the breed he would devote his life to……Arabians.
Starting with just two purebred mares he spent the next 40 years buying, selling, trading and breeding purebred Chestnut Polish Arabians. Always working to improve his line with the goal of producing powerful endurance racing champions has resulted in his present stable of over 25 purebreds. He no longer raises them on his ranch near Romance but has moved to his present facility 10 minutes east of Saskatoon.
David’s Arabians can trace their lineage directly back to the great Pietuszok, through his son Cypr, brought from Poland to North America in 1963. Pietuszok and his offspring have become legendary in racing circles. Horses from Romance Ranch have been purchased in both Canada and the United States, winning endurance races in both nations.
