The Butchart Sunken
Gardens were once a rock quarry located north of Victoria, Canada in the
Saanich Peninsula. These gardens convey the floral loveliness that is
found on Vancouver Island in the springtime. It is a delight to view and
to paint. The multitude of flowers here requires one to neglect the
individual to see the pattern of the whole garden. The senses ignore the
details and focus on the patterns that overwhelm the spectator of these
incredible gardens.
