ok, well i am sure you got emails from many weezer fans asking you about this asschun guy if he is really communicating with Rivers. Is he? if so, i would believe another letter you wrote about "now, and only now, hes listening, to a degree. hes listening because he has come to understand that hardcore fans may sometimes be a better judge of songs than say, 50 year old producers."

Well if this is true, Rivers does need advice, I would simply suggest falsettos and simply catchy solos. --Dont Delete the Message Yet--
Ok, now of course i am suggesting falsetto, because i am the matt sharp guy, and catchy solos is not the easiest thing in the world to write, but those things is what i truly believe defined the weezer sound. His vocal melodies are great, but he doesnt scream any more, as in "and if you see her, tell her its over NOW!"...stuff like that.

Now i am not trying to flood you with emails now just to get into the whole "rivers' circle of fan discussion"...I really don't mind if Rivers doesn't reply to this, he probably gets this criticism all the time. I just wanted to make my point clear on what I thought was what made weezer stick out from the others, on why this fan base stuck around for 5 years of weezer inactivity. Falling For you is one of my most favorite songs too, how can you not enjoy that solo!. Songs like undone, say it aint so, surf wax, el scorcho, etc...all have that falsetto element to it, which i think is much needed to fill in that gap. Ok, I am dragging on now, this message is probably just one of a million, so it may be nothing new. Well, I at least say thank you for everything you and weezer has done for their fans, this is the best treatment any fan can get from their band and it is so much appreciated. Thank You

Dear Mr. or Mrs. xxx,

I used to write all the back-up vocal parts, including "Matt's" falsetto parts. Now I want to give Scott and Bri the opportunity to come up with their own parts. Are you patently opposed to this? It most likely will mean the death of the falsetto.

Catchy solos I won't argue with. You're %100 right; I was 100% wrong. Falling for You is also one of my favorite all-time solos. I think I know how I can get that style back, too.

As for the screaming, I'll admit the vocal parts don't have as much intensity anymore, but I'm still not sure that's a bad thing. On Green it was too subdued, but how about now? Have you heard the latest demos? I'm thinking that's a good middle-ground--but I could be totally wrong. What do you think?

Sincerely,

Rivers Cuomo

P.S. Are you aware that "xxx" is the name of a character in Puccini's Madame Butterfly?

Dear Mr. or Mrs. xxx,

One more thing: you ask about the solos; that leads me to suspect that you might be a guitarist. What do you think about the fact that we don't tune down a half-a-step anymore? Good? Bad? No difference?

Sincerely,

Rivers Cuomo
