Review from Indie Music for the Soul Editor

Well, after scouring the Indie world, I found our first Flavour of the Week in my own back yard. Dirty Sanchez, a four piece band bred from Cranbrook, BC, are essentially a punk band. But if you've ever had a chance to hear their music, you know that they play punk, rock and even some funky country tunes, all to appease their fans. Their first concern is to have a good show, and make sure everybody has a good time. Dirty Sanchez is made up of Rick Mace, vocals and guitar; Scott Mackenzie, bass and back up vocals; Marty Powers, vocals and guitar; and new drummer Dave Howe replacing Paris Parisien, who left the band to focus more on his growing family. Paris is still a friend and jam-mate, and can be heard on their five song EP Social Eye, and the album Way Out Of Tune.

Social Eye consists of five songs, with my two favourites ending the EP: “Long Live Rock and Roll” and “Pants on Fire.” The whole EP embodies the true punk feeling that Dirty Sanchez brings forth in their attitude, music, and ideals. From the first track “Social Antics” to the last song “Pants on Fire” this EP will have you head bobbing and singing along after the first listen.

I got to sit in on a jam session with Dirty Sanchez and had so much fun that I almost forgot i was working! Listening to them play their own songs mixed in with covers of Green Day, Offspring, and The Ramones proved to me why Dirty Sanchez is worthy of being this week's Flavour of The Week. Their high energy, even in the basement jam space of friend Pete Durning, makes it clear that this is a band not to miss on stage. So, my readers, if you have the chance to see Dirty Sanchez play, DO IT!!!!!! I know I will be at the next show here in Cranbrook without a doubt!!!!

Thanks again guys!
