As a Sooke Councillor for the past three years, Rick has sat on the Zoning Bylaw Committee, the Downtown Revitalization Committee and the Economic Development Committee... and he Chairs the SEAPARC Commission.

     · Six years as Community Coordinator of the Tour de Rock event in Sooke, helping to raise well over $100,000 for Childhood Cancer Research and Camp Good Times.

     · Actively involved in local clubs and organizations, serving as a director on many committees including the Sooke Canada Day Society and Chairing the Sooke Safe Halloween Committee.

     · Marshal of the Annual Sooke Santa Claus Parade and responsible for the lighting of the Sooke Town Centre Christmas Tree

     · Chair of the 2010 Olympic/Paralympic Live Sites Grant Committee

     · Coordinates the Adopt-a-Highway program for the Sooke Harbour Chamber of Commerce, liaising with local businesses and service organizations

     · Worked with our community's youth with the Sooke Longboat Programs

     · An active participant in the Youth Forum held at E.M.C.S.

     · As a SEAPARC Commissioner, Rick was instrumental in bringing the Youth Drop-In Event to the Sooke Community Hall on Saturday nights.
