Instruction/curriculum development

Coached/tutored and provided support for middle school and high school students with special educational needs working both in classroom and studying online.
Worked with medium to large corporations (ICBC, Rogers Video, Dominion Directories, Pacific Press, British Columbia Institute of Technology) developing/redeveloping training programs producing curriculum and courseware materials resulting in increased comprehension and improved performance and updatable training manuals.
Designed, developed and delivered, to a variety of students and teachers, a workshop I call Creative Outlooks — creative problem-solving using metaphors to help participants see problems and situations from various perspectives and develop innovative and creative solutions.
Designed, developed and delivered technical courses for Vancouver Community College continuing education programs, one became mandatory for employees at a company serving the printing industry.
Worked with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) to start the online portion of their distance education program using FirstClass, developed and delivered the first course on the system.

Provided specialized tutoring/coaching to students at Vancouver Community College, advising to instructors and troubleshooting of equipment and software thus solving a broad range of problems and increasing both student and instructor success.
Successfully integrated technology upgrades and created prepress workflow and production systems at Vancouver Community College, Pacific Press, North Shore News and other workplace settings resulting in increased and more efficient production.
Helped to introduce and increase awareness for an E-mail and message conferencing system called FirstClass to Western Canada by operating the first public access system in BC and providing consulting services to new clients and users. FirstClass has been used in B.C. School Board Districts.

Learning Coach/Tutor/Special Educational Assistant/ESL Coach —

Lions Gate Christian Academy, North Vancouver, B.C., 2006

Following a coaching model, tutored students studying grade 8, 9, 10 and 11 subjects online. Worked with middle school students requiring special educational needs including ESL.

Planned and presented creative lessons to ESL academic preparation learners.

Consultant — Edge Systems Inc., North Vancouver, B.C.2003–2004

Provided project and team leadership, design, development, and production on corporate training programs for a Rogers Video. Included instructional and training design and production of published 600+ page manual and instructional training material.

Designed, developed and delivered a workshop on creative problem-solving to an ESL group of teachers from Beijing China. Acted as escort and tour guide for this group. Workshop was part of a series of transformative learning workshops I call Creative Outlooks.

Provided prepress and telecommunications consulting services to companies, including North Shore News, British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Raincoast Publishing, and others. Developed training plans and materials, and delivered on-site training in both telecommunications and publishing. As a consultant, I participated in the installation and testing of FirstClass (from SoftArc) for the Distant Education Project at BCIT and developed and taught the first course for the project. Operated the first public access FirstClass E-mail and message conferencing groupware system in British Columbia for over six years and was on the SoftArc (publishers of FirstClass) Consultant program providing services of installation and support to corporations using this software.
