Edward
Carr married Elizabeth White in Houghton le Spring Durham in
1827. I have no information regarding Elizabeth's family, but
Edward was the son of Edward Carr and Ann Scott, born c.1806,
most probably in Stannington, Northumberland. They came to Cape
Breton, Nova Scotia in the 1830's and by 1841 had three known children
(Ann, Margaret, and Francis), followed by five born in the
next decade, Elizabeth, Isabella, John, Thomas, and William Fenwick . The Carr family settled in Sydney Mines, and in North
Sydney.
My line descends from William Fenwick who married Anne
Brown in 1870, daughter of James Brown and
Elizabeth Way. Their
eldest child, Edward Henry was my grandfather, and his siblings
included James William Fenwick, Jane, and Estella Ann. Edward
Henry married Margaret McDonald in 1895, and had the following
children: William Allenson (1898), James Edward (1899) Fenwick Maxwell
Osborn (1902), Margaret Jane (1904) and John (1906). Following
Margaret's death, Edward married Jessie deGrish in 1911 and they
had three sons, Arthur Thomas, Sidney Alfred, and my father,
Francis Herbert. Most of the family moved west in the 1920's,
eventually settling in Victoria BC,
