FETES ERIKSDALE COUPLE ON GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. & Mrs. Olafur Hallson of Eriksdale, Man. were
honoured by their family and friends, Friday, on the occasion of their golden
wedding anniversary. A family dinner
was held at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hallur
Hallson, Eriksdale, when they were presented with a clock radio, electric
blanket and money tree.
Following the
dinner 200 friends and neighbours entertained in their honour at the Orange
hall. Rev. Ronald Johnston was master
of ceremonies and Elman Guttormson, M.L.A. extended greetings on behalf of St.
George constituency, concluding with a special message in Icelandic.
Olafur Johnson of Vogar, Man. proposed a
toast to the couple and John H. Knox presented them with a floor lamp and purse
of money on behalf of the community.
Presentation of a corsage and boutonniere was made by Mrs. Alma Heroux
and flowers to Mrs. Hallson by Miss Emma Sigurdson of Winnipeg.
Addresses were made by Dr. Gudmundur
Paulson, William Friesen of Stonewall, Reeve R.G. Duncan of Eriksdale, Lou
Henderson on behalf of Orange lodge 499 and Dan McFadyen on behalf of the
United Church, Eriksdale. Messages of
congratulations were received from Premier D.L. Campbell and Richard Beck,
president, Icelandic National League.
