WHO WE ARE
O'Kannagan is a five member celtic maritime band based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. If you like Celtic......you'll love O'Kannagan! O'Kannagan performed for the first time at Sgt. O'Flaherty's pub in Kelowna on St. Patrick's Day in 1996, and they haven't looked back since. The group released it's first CD in October 1997, titled "The Leaving".
O'Kannagan (rhymes with O'Flanagan) is comprised of five members, Alex Graham, Kip Butler, Arch Doody, Leo Doody, and Patty Gorges. O'Kannagan blends their wide range of musical instruments and vocals to create a sound that is truly unique.
THE MUSIC
O'Kannagan's music is a fusion of Celtic and other musical styles, which appeals to all audiences and age groups. O'Kannagan has played pubs, clubs, dance halls, concert halls and theatres, outdoor concerts, and conventions. Proprietors typically promote a "maritime" or "Irish Pub" night whenever O'Kannagan plays. With the growing popularity of Celtic music, O'Kannagan is an excellent musical choice to compliment any event.
Although O'Kannagan's mobility is restricted somewhat by individual day jobs; two policemen, an owner-operator of Dairy Queen, a Western Star Trucks foreman, and a lawyer; they have been known to travel to Alberta and Northern British Columbia from time to time. O'Kannagan plays a myriad of venues from pubs to concerts and have opened for Canadian Juno Award Winners "The Irish Descendants" from Newfoundland, Vancouver's own "Paperboys", East Coast Award winners, Rawlins Cross, and the American Celtic rock group "Tempest" from San Francisco, California.
