SOUTH ALBERTA REGIMENT Tank Crew CANADIAN 4TH ARMOURED DIVISION |
![]()
The South Alberta Regiment (29th Armoured Reconnaissance Reg.)was part of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division which comprise of many other branches of service. There is an Infantry corp attached to the 4th Division which includes the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. I chose the South Alberta and Argyll&Sutherlands becasue of their stance at St. Lambert sur Dives.
Pictured is the 21st Century Stuart tank, repainted with the proper divisional markings. I was fortunate to have pruchased a Stuart while in was still available at a local toy store. I wished I had bought two!
The sag bags were made with suitable canvas material filled with rice.

The cap badge of the South Alberta Regiment was made with two part epoxy putty(Lepage). This material is stiff enough to allow manipulation without worry of distortion. It also takes a few hours to set properly,so one has time to complete the task. The tank suit(pixie suit) was a tedious project. On top of having two long zippers in the front, it also has ten pockets, OD serge lined collar and a hood. I was unable to find a small zipper that was long enough. Although not visible, the zippers only go half-way down the uniform. The suit was made to look like the zipper went all the way to the bottom.
The other tankers overalls were similar to the pixie suit but without the zippers and less pockets.

The above pictures features some of my head sculptures. I did not sculpture there heads specificaly for this tank crew though. I have borrowed sculptures from other projects. The fore-front tanker in the pixie suit is suppose to be the Luftewaffe ace Marseille.
