On October 31, 1517,  Martin Luther  nailed a Doctrinal notice to the door of Castle church in Wittenburg, Germany.  And this action was the beginning of the Protestant  Reformation towards truer Doctrine.  This was achieved by exposing and refuting false teachings of the catholic church.  And this would turn out to be one of the most famous events in all of church history even though Lutheran Doctrine also contains definite error.
