Eleanor Hitchings nee Mills

Born July 20th, 1917

Left us in body only, August 10th, 1999.

We will always remember you, Mom.   With all our love and devotion.

You fought a long and hard battle.   You never once seriously thought of giving in to your deadly disease.  Pain became your way of life and you still set an example for charity to others and to us to learn how to enjoy whatever came our way.   Your faith was unswerving and your love for your family carried you on, day after day.  You worried about your great grandchildren forgetting you.  Even though they only ever knew you after you became ill, to them you were always special, you were  "GG"

It is not possible to forget someone who gave as much to her family and community as you did.  Elderly and ill yourself, you thought of others you considered less fortunate, and gave joy to others with your "Senior's Christmas Teas" and pancake breakfasts and other family events.

The joy you took in your sewing, our shared love of dolls, your scrabble and crosswords, your family and  friends......all contributed to keep your interest in living.  To the end, you could not lay down your will to live...as you said...."I am not sick.   IF it weren't for this darn cancer, I would be just fine!"

This site is dedicated to you, Mom.   With love from your daughter, and on behalf of the rest of your loving family.  I want to share with the world a few pictures of you during your life.   A minute of time in space, but a lifetime of love in my heart.

I will miss you Mom.   More than words can ever say.  This page will be in cyberspace.   Somehow I hope that it will be closer to you that way.

I love you,

Evelyn

Can't see the face, but Mom said it was hers.

Yup, that's Mom, too.

They moved on the dance floor like poetry in motion.

Mom and Dad and Cleo Laine.   So proud of the distant relationship.

Mom and Dad's 40th Wedding Anniversary.  Probably the only time the entire family was together in one picture.

I couldn't believe THIS picture when I found it.    That's MY dad?
