To
Mom's Book
Mom passed away on August the 10th,
1999. We will sorely miss her. Her spirit was an undying flame and
it will live on in her descendents. I am so sorry that she was unable
to actually view her website on the internet, but I did get it
printed out and put into a book which I gave her for Mother's Day.
It was her constant companion until the day she died, and she loved
being able to tell people that she was on the internet. In her usual
fashion of being a "leader in new things", she carried on until the
end....with her obituary proudly announcing to the world to view a
more detailed story of her life on HER website . The newspaper had
never seen such a request before--a trailblazer to the end
(the idea of putting the website address in her obituary was a
stroke of genius by her granddaughter, Colleen) . I have
added a few pages to Mom's Book, pages which are a memorial to our
mother. I know that if Mom could see them, she would love them. I
am putting them up partly as a "comfort zone" for myself and my
daughter, Cheryl, but also partly because of a promise I made to Mom
that I would not let her grandchildren and great-grandchildren ever
forget her.
As a little aside, after her funeral, Arthur gave me back the copy
of Mom's Book that I had given to Mom. When I opened the book and
started leafing through it I saw that my mother, always the perfectionist,
had gone through the book correcting my typing mistakes, and any dates
and things that she noticed were wrong. I feel obligated now to
re-open her website and add these corrections to the internet site.
With Mom now in "cyberspace" herself, I think I had better get the
site shipshape as quickly as I can. She now could possibly have far
more devastating ways of bringing me into line than she ever had before.
I love you, Mom.

I have had to remove the chat room. It never got used, and the company
that offered it took away the "private" aspect and it is now filled
with unsavory chat.

and Links of Interest
My husband's father, James Thomas Stanbury,
passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 87 years on November 12th,
2001. I have created a couple of pages in memory of Dad. A
private man, a quiet man, but always loved by his family.
You might also like to stop by the Slide Show of the Family Photo Album.
This is a growing album. If you are a family member and are
visiting the site and would like to see some of YOUR pictures up here, just email them to me
and I will see that they take their place on one of the album pages. Or if
the slide show takes too long to download, we also have a Family
Photo Album for your viewing pleasure.
In early February, 2000, one of Mom's younger sisters met with an unfortunate accident in her home.

Cynthia and Bruce Weir have done a lot of
work on another family website dedicated to our uncle, George Mills, Mom's oldest
brother who was killed near the end of World War II. It is well worth a visit.
Mom's Site has become more than just a memorial to my
mother. I enjoy coming here to "visit" her, and do so quite
often. I am adding pages and links to the site when I feel
that something might have been of interest to my mother, or when I find
something compatible with the theme of the site. Interestingly enough, I
am constantly receiving emails from people who have accidentally found the
site by one method or another. Their indication of how much they enjoyed
reading Mom's Book led me to think that other's may also enjoy it. In
order to let more people view the site, I have joined a few Web Rings that I
thought would be appropriate for the site. I haven't visited all the
sites in these web rings, but from the ones I have seen, I don't think there
is anything in these rings that would not be considered appropriate
viewing. However, it is always the viewer's responsibility to ensure
that what sites they visit contain material that is suitable to their own
tastes. I assume no responsibility for the views, opinions or graphics
from any of the sites, advertising material or whatever, that you may
encounter when viewing sites on these web rings.
You will find this handy navigation bar on each page on the
