The intent of the Homestead Project is to preserve, in an artistic, archivable, easily accessible format as many of my memories of the place that I grew up as I possibly can. I have so much memorabilia from my parents that I cannot possibly hang onto all of it. Much of it is simple documentation. A scrap of my Mom's train ticket from the trip up from Pennsylvania. Some of my Dad's letters. Various notes from various relatives. Then there are photos: photos by the hundreds. And audio tapes. And things that my dad built for various little reasons.
What to do with all of this stuff? That was the question. The answer
that I came up with was to turn it into a multimedia web site, archivable on
CD-ROM. My goal is to construct a 3-d representation of the house that
I grew up in, using a collage of the photos available. The representation
will stretch across time, as well as space.
