                                      My Photo Gallery

This photo of my dad and I was taken the day of my graduation from the Intensive Care Nursing Program at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.  Here, my dad is holding up my pin...he never looked prouder of me than he did that day.  I will always miss him.

Our wedding day Saturday, September 27, 1989.  It was a gorgeous fall day and we erected a tent and had an outdoor wedding.  It was beautiful...a day I'll never forget!  The photo was taken in our back yard...the backdrop was a beautiful weeping birch which provided the perfect canopy.  Sadly, the tree is no more, having had to be cut down a few years ago.

Here's my son Jordan -age 15 - a student in Grade 10.

These are my grandparents on my father's side (with an unidentified friend - far right on the photo taken on the train).  Allan Charles Hancock was born in Balmoral in December, 1904; his father, Charles Thomas Hancock died in April of that same year.  Allan lived in Stonewall and married Betty Florence Emms  September 29,  1940 in the Sparling United Church at 688 McDermot Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  According to her marriage certificate, Betty was born in approximately 1919 and was the daughter of Mary Jane Edwards of Bristol, England and (stepfather?) Joseph Hall Emms, a widower originally from Oro, Ontario.  I have yet to determine who Betty's father was as Betty was born two years before her parents' marriage (Joseph was widowed from Annie Elizabeth McCuaig in January of 1920 and went on to marry Mary Jane Edward on March 30th of the following year).  Mary Jane Edwards was the daughter of Charles and Mary (James) Edwards, both born in approximately 1850-51 in Penally and Amrott (respectively), in Pembrokeshire, Wales...this is the extent of what I have learned about my grandmother's family thus far.  Sadly, my father Allan Clifford Wayne Hancock arrived on August 21, 1941 but never knew his dad;  Allan Sr. died at Dieppe the following August.  It was a profound loss that my father never truly recovered from.

William Clifford, son of my great-grandparents John and Elizabeth Kernick Clifford and two of his daughters...I have yet to identify them by name.

Merle (left) and Thelma Hancock (my first cousins once removed).  They were the daughters of my grandfather Allan Charles' Hancock's brother John and his wife Alice (nee Quickfall)...these photos were taken in Vancouver.

I found this photo of my great-great grandmother, Elizabeth Kernick Clifford, in a book at the Manitoba Genealogical Society - it chronicled the history of the pioneer families of the Rockwood municipality in Manitoba.  Elizabeth was born April 25, 1841 at Tintagel in Cornwall , England.  I have only just begun to learn about her and with the generous assistance of some Kernick researchers in England, hope to be able to trace her family tree.  Elizabeth married John Clifford in Ontario and emigrated to Manitoba.
