In Memoriam |
It is with great sadness that
we have to report the passing of our Brother Knight, William B. Smith, Sr.
On Friday, Jan. 6,
2012, at the age of 77,
surrounded by his loving family,
our Brother
passed away
in Nanaimo after a brief
illness. Bro.
Bill joined our Order in 1982 and the 4th Degree in 2004. For all
these years he had been a proud and
faithful member of our Council and Assembly. He served on our
executive as Chancellor for two terms; was a cheerful member of the
pancake breakfast and cemetery clean-up crews; and, was the
right-hand man to our past Grand Knight in helping and fostering the
anti-drug/alcohol program in our local schools. It is with heavy hearts that we now take leave from our Brother. We pray for him and offer our deepest sympathy to his wife Teresa, his sons and our Bro. Knights, Bill J., Jr. and Bob, as well as to the entire Smith family. |

May he Rest in Peace. |

Our Council is located in the beautiful "Harbour City" of Nanaimo, B.C. on Vancouver Island and is attached to St.Peter's Parish. Presently, the Grand Knight is Brother Rick Jones who may be contacted at his email address.

last Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm. in St. Peter's Church, Resource Room. As a visiting brother Knight to our fair city, we
extend a most cordial welcome to you to join us at any of
our regular meetings.
About our council
Our Council was founded in 1952 as a sub-Council
of Port Alberni, Council #3435. In May 1954 we received our own charter
and became a council in our own right under the name of Mid-Island Council
#3842. It is so named
because in its early days it served the entire mid-Vancouver Island
region, stretching from Mill Bay/Shawnigan Lake to Qualicum Beach. In its
half century history, it has seen the creation of five new councils in
this area, the latest being Santa Maria Council in Ladysmith. Presently,
our Council works closely with St.
Peter's Parish and draws most of its members from it. We do however,
also have some members from our sister parishes in the city, namely,
Trinity Catholic and St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. It has an
outstanding record of accomplishments over these many years of service
providing funds and volunteer labour for many projects in both the parish
and the community. Click here for a summary of our
Council's
First Half Century of Service to
Church and Community.
