Our School is a community with a proud tradition of integrity and a strong
commitment to excellence. In addition to private lessons with our experienced teachers,
we encourage students to take advantage of the following special privileges:
1) Studio Recitals:
A valuable opportunity for young pianists ages 4–24 to perform for a
supportive audience, as well as listen to their peers. Held every month in the Chopin Room.
Proper dress code is emphasized. High school students may supervise these recitals for
volunteer hours. Monthly. FREE.
2) Piano Play & Studio Club:
Spirited enrichment classes programmed for students of all levels, ages 5–8 (Piano Play) and 9-11.
Learn about music through games and activities in a fun and encouraging setting! Bi-weekly.
$200 for 15 sessions
3) Private Coaching Ensemble Class:
Duet and Trio coaching sessions programmed
for students of all ages, RCM Grade 4 and above. Follow in the footsteps of our international
prize-winning ensemble, Lyons Quatuor Piano. Discover the pleasures of collaborating with
other pianists, whether for concerts, competitions, or just fun music-making! Please consult
your private teacher for further information and fees.
4) Reward System for All Students:
As an incentive, lessons can be graded so that each
student works towards a prize.
5) Income Tax Receipts for Students 16 Years & Older:
As a certified federal
educational institution, we are authorized to issue tuition receipts.
6) Group Discount Tickets Arranged for Concerts & Opera:
Part of music students' education is to attend concerts. We often arrange tickets at reduced prices for the Vancouver Symphony and Vancouver Opera, and organize field trips to special events. We encourage parents to share these pleasures with their children.
7) Access to Music Library:
Our School has a wide variety of over 1,000 records, tapes and CDs as well as hundreds of music scores, many of which are now out of print.
8) Championship Cups & Gold Medallions for Theory Students:
We have a proud tradition of offering the finest training in all theoretical subjects. To
encourage achievement in theory, the student with the highest mark in each grade is awarded a
Championship Cup. Students who receive 95% or higher in rudiments and 90% or higher in
harmony, counterpoint, analysis or history are awarded Gold Medallions.
9) Scholarships for Piano Students:
Scholarships are awarded for high marks in exams, festivals and studio contests. We wish to
encourage more donations to our Scholarship Fund so that we can reward more students.
