DO YOU OFFER WEDDING PACKAGES? HOW MANY HOURS OF PHOTOGRAPHY CAN WE EXPECT ON OUR WEDDING DAY?
.
I don't offer " packages " per se, preferring to tailor my services to the specific needs of each couple I work with.
.
The events of your wedding day commence well before the ceremony and conclude long afterwards. I'll be there for a full 8 hr day.
( as opposed to the 4-6 hr limitations you will encounter with many other photographers )
.
.
NOTE: You can choose to book additional hours if you require them.
.
.
.
WE'D LIKE TO HAVE SOME FORMAL SHOTS AS WELL AS LOTS OF GREAT CANDIDS... DO YOU SHOOT BOTH?
.
Absolutely.
.
The majority of your wedding day ( ceremony, reception etc. ) will be captured in an unobtrusive, photojournalistic style.
.
We will also set time aside for formal portraits ( family portraits, wedding party, bride and groom etc. ) at the location(s) of your choice.
I am happy to scout out suitable locations for you or have a look at any locations you might have in mind.

.
.
.
DO YOU SHOOT JPEG OR RAW FORMAT?
.
.
Not all digital photography is the same. I shoot in a RAW file format, as opposed to a JPEG file format. ( being shot by many
wedding photographers ) The RAW files are fine tuned and then processed at the highest level to a JPEG format. This doubles my
post-production time, but it improves the quality of your imagery substantially. ( see enlargement of exact same image taken in RAW
and JPEG at bottom of Q&A... the difference is staggering )

Be sure to ask your prospective wedding photographer if they are shooting in RAW or JPEG file formats.
.

.
.
DO WE GET TO KEEP THE DIGITAL NEGATIVES? IS THERE A WAIT TIME FOR THE NEGATIVE RELEASE?
.
In response to an overwhelming number of clients who prefer to own their wedding negatives, I have made it my policy to release
the negatives to my wedding clients, without a " holding period " and at NO extra charge. ( which will potentially save you thousands
of dollars in re-prints and negative release fees )

.
You will receive the digital negatives on a professional quality digital cd. ( High resolution JPEG files ( 8" by 12" at 300 dpi ))

.
.
.
HOW MANY IMAGES CAN WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE?
.
A typical wedding shoot is approximately 1500 - 1800 images. Approximately 1/3 of the images shot are " SELECTS ". So you can
expect to receive approximately 500 - 600 PROFESSIONAL QUALITY images.

.
I also create a DVD slideshow, of the " best of " images for you. The DVD slideshow is set to music and is professionally produced.
You'll be able to visit your family and friends and view a DVD of your wedding day images, television screen size.

WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE? DOES EQUIPMENT MATTER?
.
In photography, equipment matters. My equipment is updated regularly, and consists of only top-of-the-line professional Nikon gear.
I have a brand new Nikon D3 ( digital ) camera, a back up ( digital ) camera, 5 Nikon lenses ( from 16mm fisheye to 200 mm zoom )
and the latest Nikon flash system, along with two back up flashes.
.
I can't stress how important it is to have the best equipment, and back up equipment, as well.

THERE ARE SO MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS OUT THERE, HOW DO WE KNOW WE'RE MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR US?
.
When it comes to wedding photography, the choice is very personal. I would consider the below areas very important.
.
1. Skill / Talent - Photography is a unique discipline that combines art and science. The science of photography is all about light.
The challenge of wedding photography is the multitude of lighting conditions one can face on any given day. ( dark
churches, sunny / overcast locations, back lighting, reception halls with mixed lighting etc. )
.
Art, on the other hand, is subjective, and you'll know good art when you see it.
.
Be sure to have a close look at a prospective photographer's portfolio, and see that they include imagery from indoor
ceremonies and receptions to see how they manage the various lighting conditions.
.
2. Effort / Preparation - Preparation is key to a successful wedding shoot. Preparation should include a consultation or two prior to the
date of your wedding, not just the initial " sales pitch " meeting. Preparation can also include location scouting,
when necessary, as well as a thorough discussion of your wedding day itinerary / photographic wish list.
.
Please visit the " testimonials " section of my website to gain an insight into the effort / dedication I offer to
each and every one of my wedding clients.

.
3. Budget - A talented wedding photographer fetches a fee in the $2000 - $4000 range.
.
Like so many things in life, with photography, you do get what you pay for, so beware if you are offered a service at a
relatively low fee, or a relatively high fee, as may be the case.
.
You don't want to hire a " budget " photographer and be disappointed with below average results as typically, a low budget
photographer is in the early stages of learning their trade.
.
You don't need to break the bank because your photographer's office is located in a fancy part of town, either.
.
Set a budget you're comfortable with, and find the best photographer you can within your budget range.
.
4. Personality - Your wedding photographer is going to be by your side all day, on one of the most important days of your life. You'll
want to ensure that you feel comfortable around them and vice versa.

.
.
.
TO RECAP, MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES INCLUDE:
.
- Full coverage, an 8 HOUR day of photography.
- 1500 - 1800 images shot, resulting in approximately 500 - 600 " SELECT " images.
- Immediate negative release of high resolution ( 8" by 12" at 300 dpi ) jpeg files.
- A professionally produced DVD slideshow of your " best of " wedding images.
