HELLO AND WELCOME TO HEART 2 HEART LIFE COACHING
My name is
Elizabeth McCarty. I have spent a lifetime (30 +
yrs.) helping people overcome obstacles in their
lives. I absolutely love working and helping people
of all ages. I am a mother of two wonderful children
and a grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren.
In the past I have fostered children, cared for my
elderly mother and
numerous animals. Presently, I care for my mothers
sweet little dog and foster two stray cats (left in
the alley-way) that I feed but they are afraid to
come in from the cold. Caring for people and animals
is my forte`.
My experience has varied in every decade of my life.
I started my working life as a community social
worker in the largest and poorest housing project in
Canada.
Working with some remarkable families and amazing
youth. I was instrumental in setting up a community
centre, day-care centre and food co-op on the
premises. As the majority of the clients were single
parents on welfare my next job was to train them to
work in the store as a pathway to becoming self
sufficient, learn to eat healthy
all the while feel safe their children were cared
for in the day care. Youth leadership programs were
carried out in the community centre. An overwhelming
number of parents and youth went on to jobs or
training in both fields of work. As this work was
implemented some 30 years ago and is still a model
for the community at work today.
This job prepared me for my next big adventure.
I was asked
to manage the largest volunteer program (at that
time) in Canada. The
program served 2,500-3,000 volunteers at any given
time. I managed a full time staff
of 15 and 30 office volunteers at various times
throughout the month. I also took on the job to
oversee our office community newspaper and was
active on three community boards at the same time.
(Today, I truly don't know how I managed it all, but
I was young
that's all I can attribute it to.) The program
itself served community organizations and non profit
businesses throughout the city at the same time gave
persons on welfare an opportunity to gain work
experience, to prepare for further training or full
time employment and independence. I might add that
the vast majority of persons passing through the
program gained full employment. The program proved
itself so well that the
Government (Human Resources Department) integrated it
as a valuable working program. This great work
experience propelled me to my next and final job for
... you guessed it, the Government of course in the
social services working as a counselor with single
clients and families in need of assistance be it
financial, education/training or family court. All
in all it was a most rewarding time of my life and
subsequently I took an early retirement to start my
own business.....Helping People.
HAVING HELD A NUMBER OF POSITIONS COUNSELING AND
HELPING PEOPLE
FOR A LIFETIME HAS PREPARED ME TO WORK HARD IN YOUR
BEST INTERESTS
AND PREPARE YOU FOR A NEW DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR
LIFE.
