This publicity shot looks from about the late 1940's. Charlie worked all of the great comedy series (except the Stooges), ie., Rascals, Laurel & Hardy, Groucho, the Road pix, etc. His specialty being special-effects make up he was always on hand for pratfalls, gorilla and animal bits, etc.

Lots of info. He did more on the Hunchback than given credit for, probably because of his young age. It also mentions the films for the orient. He neglected to say Charlie owned the movie houses for distribution. The item I find fascinating is the fact that he invented studio blood and saved the studio on wardrobe expenses, and stainless ink!! Seems he should be in the inventors hall of fame with all his countless innovations and inventions. What about the portrait painting?

Jungle Princess
"Search for the Jungle Princess"- Storyboard- after the abduction of the young daughter of the head of the safari by the head of the gorilla band. The search includes numerous dangerous encounters before they call it off and a she is left to be raised by the gorillas and grow into the "Jungle Princess".

The Big Freeze
Late 1940's. Part of storyboard for a movie he wanted to make on "The Big Freeze". Story of the rising out of the frozen arctic of the animals from the ice age due to global warming, including the giant frozen ape. This was another movie set up to be filmed on 16mm and distributed in the Philippines, through his theaters. He never made it because my uncle who was running the businesses in the islands, bellied up the works, took the money and bought Powell and Market in San Francisco, plus other choice pieces of real estate. End of oriental Foster Freezes i.e. "California Drive Ins" and movie houses. End of that dream..... It was a "natural" for the occupying American troops. Charlie got cheated!!!!
