The GeoGenealogy website...

"Everything is related to everything else, but near things are more related than distant things"
Waldo Tobler, the first law of geography, 1970

  What's New?
The function of The GeoGenealogy web site is to bring a broad range of geographic resources to the desk of the genealogist and surname researcher.

The website makes extensive use of Google Earth for many of it's applications and maps.

Google Earth is GeoGenealogy's application of choice because:

  • Its free
  • It's easy to use
  • It has an extensive global data base of places and addresses
  • The contemporary landscape can be viewed with Google's satellite imagery
  • It can import and display historic map images
  • Family  or Surname data can be easily imported into Google Earth.
