The links above – Hickmott's of New Zealand, Comprehensive Hickmott Family, My Curgenven Ancestry, Comprehensive Curgenven Family and the Riley's and Agley (AKA Hagley) track the origins of my family, The Mitchell's origins are from both Cornwall and Yorkshire and can be found in the latter stages of both the Curgenven and Riley ancestry. In the Comprehensive Curgenven Family it lists all the currently connected Curgenven's and their descendants.
The Comprehensive Hickmott Family lists all currently connected Hickmott's and their descendants who originated from Kent primarily from the Lamberhurst and Brenchley areas.
Journey of the 'Arethusa' to New Zealand gives an very real account of the life (and death) accounted of the journey to New Zealand on the Arethusa which some of my Riley family members came to New Zealand on. It is worth reading as it gives us all an indication of the extreme adversity that our forbearers undertook for a better life in the 'New World'.
In the Dynamic Family Tree is a Full Ancestral Database in a Genealogy 'Tree' format and contains all my and my wife's known ancestors and all their known descendants from these families and more. The Dynamic Tree is fast with Broadband access but not recommended with a slower access. The Full Ancestral Database contains the same information but not in a 'Tree" format.
The Hickmotts here have more than 1,800 descendants and the Curgenvens there are more than 1,300 descendants – perhaps your connection can be found here! It is growing rapidly and I would like to keep adding to this in an ongoing basis.
Using The Dynamic Family Tree allows you to go back and forward tracing ancestors and their descendants. You must be using a Java compatible browser to view this. It also contains notes and photographs of many ancestors and their descendants.
William Edmond Brown – my BIG Brick Wall – makes interesting reading and includes some old photographs. If anyone can help on this I would much appreciate it. He was a pioneer photographer in the Nelson area of New Zealand from 1866 through to early 1890's.
Although living peoples names are in this website, only publicly available information is included e.g. name and year of birth. No current locations, addresses etc. are divulged. This data is freely available from many sources and does not expose people to identity theft.
If you notice any connection, errors or additional information or photos that you could contribute, please contact me. There are likely to be errors in some families as there is a preponderance of names like John, Peter, James, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah etc. which makes errors difficult to avoid. For spam prevention my email is modified, but you should able to interpret it: geneaL05'at'shaw.ca - that is a 'zero' after the 'L' and a @ for 'at'
