| The Infertility Connection of Edmonton is a support group that meets regularly to provide support to couples who are experiencing infertility. Coming to the support group allows people to share their experiences and listen to other infertility stories realizing that they are not alone. Friendships are formed - sometimes forever. The Infertility Connection began in January of 1997 at which time there were approximately 6 people that were assisting with the startup of this support group. This is a non-profit organization and through the years we have had various volunteers helping with the group. Why Do You Need A Support Group?
While we go through infertility as an individual and as a couple, we must also face how it affects the other aspects of our lives. Joining a support group is a great choice for many of us. While we all may feel the need for more support.... therapy and groups can help provide you with better coping skills, than you might find in your immediate environment. How do you know if a support group is right for you?If you feel several of the below statements hold true for you.....finding a group might help you quite a bit. It's important to remember that good emotional health is an important factor in reproductive health. I feel all alone in this. I have very few people, other than my spouse, to talk to about this. Everyone I know is pregnant or has children. Infertility is affecting all parts of my life. I feel my life is out of control. I can't decide what to do next in regards to my medical treatments. I can't decide if I should move on. I can't bear the holidays or family get togethers.
