The founder and head instructor of the Edmonton Women’s Gojukai Karate Club is Dana Nawata. Sensei Nawata has been studying karate since 1978.

Accomplishments and Experiences
  • Co-founder and co-author of AAA Self Defense for Women, 1996.
  • Member of the Provincial Shotokan Team in the 1988 Western Canadian Championships.
  • 1st and 2nd place standings in Provincial Karate Competitions in Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring) in the mid-to-late 80s.
  • Member of the Provincial Karate Team in 1985/86.
  • Goju-ryu and Shotokan training, Kyoto and Osaka, Japan, 1989-1990.
  • Aiki-Jujitsu training, Avignon, France, 1983-1984.
  • Professional school teacher.
