Mas Amedda was the Vice Chair of the Galactic Senate during Chancellor Valorum's term, a position he continued to hold as Chancellor Palpatine's transformed the Republic into the Galactic Empire. Amedda's booming voice often called for order when the partisan nature of the Republic's government degenerated into pointless bickering. In an alien gesture of authority, he would often punctuate such calls with a flicker of his long, forked tongue.

Amedda was fully aware of Chancellor Palpatine's Sith allegiance as the Clone Wars drew to a close. He tasked Palpatine's personal clone troopers to scour the Senate for any traces of the fugitive Jedi Master, Yoda.

Biography

Amedda's office was rife with scandal. He was accused of misusing his parliamentary powers for bribes, though Amedda stood firm to his own code of honor.
Mas Amedda was a Chagrian male, with well-developed lethorns draped from his shoulders. His pale blue skin screens out the harmful radiation of his native sun.

A connoisseur of fine art and antiquity, one of Amedda's role in Palpatine's office was to locate and secure rare treasures from around the galaxy.

Behind the scenes

In The Phantom Menace, Amedda was played by Jerome Blake, who performed multiple roles in Episode I, including Senator Orn Free Taa, Rune Haako, Horox Ryyder, and Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis. In Attack of the Clones, David Bowers plays Amedda. In Revenge of the Sith, both actors played the part, with Bowers handling the bulk of the role during principal photography in Sydney, and Blake shooting a scene of dialogue during additional photography in Shepperton.
