The Western Committee on Crop Pests

~Est. 1962~

The Western Committee on Crop Pests consists of a widely-based group of pest management experts and researches who meet annually to determine best practices for integrated pest control in Western Canada. The WCCP recommends the selection of safe and effective chemical pest control agents (not necessarily products). The goal of the WCCP is to determine the integrated pest management methods that are cost-effective and do not adversely affect the health of individuals, livestock, wildlife or the environment.

The WCCP Guide to Integrated Control of Plant Pests presents the prevailing knowledge of control of pests, discussed and updated at the annual meeting of the WCCP (a component of Canada's Western Forum on Pest Management). The WCCP Guide Chapters are arranged according to the crop or other plants to be protected. Whereever possible, restrictions and non-chemical methods are also recommended. The authors of these chapters are national authorities in the subject areas. (Read the Foreword to the Guide here.)

Note: WCCP recommendations do not supercede the pesticide product labels of provincial or federal guides or regulations. Always read and follow the instructions on the label before using any pesticide product. The Western Committee on Crop Pests does not assume liability for crop loss, animal loss, health, safety or environmental hazard caused by the use of products or practices listed within the Guide.
