Please keep in mind although adults are trained dogs they must be given time to adjust to their new homes. Our dogs are house trained with the use of a doggie door but going to a home without this option would require some further training. Our male dogs have been used in the breeding program and have the mind to compete with the other males we have and therefore occasionally they feel the need to mark things so will need some further training to overcome that. Once neutered they usually subside from this behavior.

Many people wonder why we would place an adult dog. Usually people think that there is something wrong with the dog such as health etc. This is not the case. When you are a breeder/ fancier of a particular breed, your interests are quite often in the showing of the dogs you breed.  In my case I will do a breeding when I am interested in another dog to show. When each dog shown has finished his/her career in the show ring they may or may not become part of the breeding program. As time goes on and yet another dog has been kept for show purposes, you find yourself getting overloaded with more and more dogs. It is at this time that in order to continue with the hobby of showing I must start to look at placing some of my dogs into approved homes in order not to find myself with more dogs than I have time for. Some times a dog that has been kept for show or breeding purposes does not always grow up to be as anticipated and therefore may not fit into the program as we had hoped for. I do not have a kennel set up, as the dogs live in the house with us.  I feel that I can only give proper attention to so many dogs at once and I have come to the conclusion that my retired show dogs will be much happier and have far more one on one contact in good homes with people who have only one or two dogs. They strive for the attention and it is, in my opinion, that my placed dogs will receive much more of this attention when in homes that can give each dog more time. So it is for this reason why we, at times, may have an adult available for placement to a new home.
