Creating Comics Misc. resourcesMiscellaneous Resources

  • Scott McCloud, among various others, came up with a Bill of Creators Rights, which deals with how they feel creators should be treated. This is an interesting reading. This is just one of the various comic book inventions, Scott McCloud created or was part of.
  • John MacLeod has provided a reading list for all creators, The Small Press Comics FAQ Bookshelf. Although he states this is for Small Press, there are books on this list that are good reading for anyone and highly recommended.
  • If you are going to create comics you should support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, which protects first amendment rights of comics creators and comic shop owners. Information about this fund can be found on this page.
  • Another good group to support is ACTOR - A Commitment To Our Roots, which is an organization trying to help old artists/writers, many of whom gave up all their rights for the little they were paid.
