CreamandSugarBand                                                                   ( A four piece band ) were formed in 1990 and have become Calgary's best known and enjoyed dance band.  Playing a wide variety of music: Ballroom, Rock, Country, Latin and Reggae, their friendly and relaxed style offers something for everyone.The purpose of this website is to share information about the band's  whereabouts  and to make available their schedule of engagements.

About us:

1)Joy Velasco  - Vocals / Bass Guitar

         Alejo Velasco (Joy) was born and raised in the Philippines and started singing at a  very young age in the church choir. His love of being in front of the crowd prompted him to enter several vocal contests, managing to win each time. Joy immigrated to Canada in 1988 and continued singing whenever given the opportunity. In 1990, he started the Cream & Sugar Band and has wowed audiences ever since with his powerful and unique vocals as well as playing a smokin' bass guitar, keyboards and sequencing all the keyboard, horn and percussion parts. Occasionally Joy's daughter, Mariedelle Velasco, sings with the band, adding her beautiful voice in duet with Joy.  

2)Danny Comandante-Vocals/RhythmGuitar
Danny is instantly recognizable by his rich baritone voice, which he uses with great effect to entertain the members of our audience. When he isn't strumming the rhythm guitar, he's playing the conga drums or cowbells, adding that perfect touch of percussion. Danny came to Canada from the Philippines in the late 60's and since has been living in Calgary. He runs his own printing business by day (and plays music by night!) Having toured with many bands over the years, he joined Cream & Sugar in 1995 and has been adding flavor and spice to the band ever since! Danny is also a songwriter and is currently working on material for a Cream & Sugar CD

5)Mariedelle Velasco - (Joy's daughter) sings with the band occasionally. -In 2006, she joined the 10th annual "World Championships Of Performing Arts,( WCOPA ) held at Burbank, California (Hollywood ) as one of the Team Canada member in variety vocal singing category, Acting and Modelling, to compete Fifty one countries around the world.And won a bronze medal on her "variety singing category".And now attended at Mount Royal University and sings with the "Cream andSugar band" occasionally. And last July 2011, she won the title as  Miss Tourism Petite Inter-continental beauty pageant held at Dominican Republic, sponsored by the Visminsa ( Filipino Association in Calgary) representing the Philippines.....She also the President of "Kids and Elderly "foundation based in Mount Royal University, Calgary.
