3rd Arbutus Beaver Colony

Beaver Program: (5 to 7 years of age)

The Beaver program helps children learn basic social skills and gain self-confidence. The program is built around a lively variety of games, crafts, music, storytelling, playacting and the outdoors (as much of this as possible). Beaver activities stress cooperation and teamwork and involve the whole family.

A new member begins as a Kit and works to become an Eager Beaver by learning their Beaver Promise, Motto, Law and salute. Kits may wear the Beaver hat and vest but not the neckerchief. This they receive as part of their Investiture Ceremony. Parents/Guardians are invited to be part of this ceremony. 3rd Arbutus Beavers are usually invested at a special campfire investiture ceremony at Portage Park (our alternative outdoor meeting place).

Beaver Law: A Beaver has fun, works hard and helps his/her family and friends.

Beaver Promise: I promise to love God and to help take care of the world.

Beaver Motto: Sharing, sharing, sharing.

Tail groups in the colony indicate age groups. 5 year olds (Brown Tails), 6 year olds (Blue Tails) and 7 year olds (White Tails). Age 7-8 years the White Tails are transferred to Cubs in the Swimming Up Ceremony.

Leader or Assistant Leader

As a Parent Helper at Beaver Meetings
