Security Video FootageThe intent of this page is to alert all owners to the hazards of allowing strangers into the building. In the early morning hours of Sunday February 24, at approx 1:22am, a resident or guest of a resident of 1010 Howe did allow 4 intoxicated individuals into the building. At approx 1:25am, these individuals activated the front door fire alarm pull station. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO FOOTAGE #1 Another incident caught on film. A resident allows a very intoxicated individual in the front door who pulls the fire alarm, then passes out, and get arrested. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO FOOTAGE #2 This incident involves tenants fighting in the lobby. One tenant was evicted due to numerous noise complaints, plus this incident. The other tenant has since moved out. This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated by any resident ! PLEASE CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO FOOTAGE #3 Strata council is requesting that any information regarding these incident or any other incident in the building be reported immediately to the property manager, Dave Olafsson at 604-648-6991 or by email to the strata council at strata1010@shaw.ca . The Strata Council will be actively seeking fines and follow up with the Vancouver Fire Department and Vancouver Police Department for all false alarm events. Again, as noted numerous times in the past, we wish to alert all owners and rental tenants to the following rule / bylaw of the building: DIVISION 22. - SECURITY
The video surveillance from early Sunday morning clearly shows a resident of 1010 Howe allowing 4 very intoxicated individuals into the lobby at 1:22am. This person is ultimately responsible for the alarm. Strata Council will be seeking immediate eviction if this person is a renter, plus maximum allowable fines to the suite owner. If this person is an owner, the Strata Council will be seeking maximum allowable fines plus informing the police and fire department so they can proceed with criminal charges and fines. Please be advised that the Fire Department is within their right to impose a minimum fine of $2,000 against the building for false fire alarms. If this happens, Strata Council will pass this fine along to the strata lot who allowed strangers to enter the building as per bylaw 22.1 and 22.2 Again, we wish to remind all owners, DO NOT LET STRANGERS INTO THE BUILDING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. All entrances and exits are on 24 hour video surveillance. If you as an owner or renter have allowed someone to enter the building, and that individual(s) that causes damage or creates a nuisance, the Strata Council will hold you responsible for all resulting costs and or fines. You wouldn’t let a complete stranger into your respective unit, so don’t let them in your building! ALL problems to date that have involved theft or fire alarms have been directly linked to tenants allowing unauthorised strangers to enter at the front door and parking garage. Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and we ask that everyone be extremely vigilant about security !! |
