Cover yourself: Ensure you have adequate insurance coverage

Wether you are a live-in owner, a landlord or a tenant at Fortune House, now’s a good time to get adequate and sufficient insurance coverage.

Insurance arranged and paid for by the Strata Corporation covers only the structure of your suite and the common property (hallways, laundry rooms, etc). Your furniture, personal effects or improvements (new wood floors, closet organizers, etc) are never covered by the Strata Corporation’s insurance. You should also get adequate liability insurance.

Just a few dollars per month can protect your against fire, theft, flood, vandalism and many other situations including accidents and damage to the building or other suites originating from your suite or actions (eg bathtub overflows and ruins neighbour’s wood floor).
