CALGARY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTPIPE BAND |
Crossfield Parade |
![]() |
Each year in mid-June, the town of Crossfield hosts a parade. The band was asked to take part since the town's small size and nearness to the city often means that no other bands attend. The route meanders down Main street and along side streets where it passes a seniors' home. |

The town boasts that 'it has never rained on their parade'. Even when tuning up in the rain showers and coldness on the hands, the sun has managed to break through before the parade starts and provide a lovely backdrop for this important event. |

The Calgary International Airport Pipe Band members love to come out and play for this parade. Aside from a terrific pancake breakfast to set the mood, it is rewarding to see all the town's people lining the streets to watch, and to share some pipe music with the seniors. |
Banff, Canmore Canada Day Parades |
On Canada Day 2003, the R.C.M.P. musical ride put on some performances in the Banff town site. The Calgary International Airport Pipe Band was invited to perform to introduce the ride and also to be part of the Canada Day parade. Banff is chock full of visitors, especially to take in the R.C.M.P. musical ride. The huge crowds that lined the streets were so loud that some times the players could not hear the instruments. The CIAPB also took part in the 2005 Canada Day parades at Canmore and Banff as part of the Prairies Massed Pipes and Drums to celebrate Alberta's Centennial. |

Since 2003, the Calgary International Airport Pipe Band has taken part in the Calgary Stampede Parade as part of the Prairies Massed Pipes and Drums. Pipe Major Fraser Abbott of the University of Calgary Pipe Band was the organizer of the massed pipes and drums for the Stampede Parade, as well as the Canada Day 2005 parades in Banff and Canmore to celebrate Alberta's Centennial. In 2000, the Calgary International Airport Pipe Band teamed up with the Scottish Tradition School of Piping to march in the city's Grey Cup Parade. |
