The Chilliwack Quilters' Guild was founded in 1985 by three Chilliwack women who
traveled back and forth from Chilliwack to meetings of the Fraser Valley Quilters' Guild in Surrey, B.C. Between them they rented a room at the Chilliwack Arts
Center and had their first meeting on October 6th, 1985. The Guild's first Quilt show was in 1987. The Guild continues to host a quilt show every other year. For more information on the Guild's beginning check out the History page.
The Chilliwack Quilters' Guild meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month September to June. Guild meetings are held at The Chilliwack Arts
Center, 45899 Henderson Ave, Chilliwack, B.C. There are approximately 50 members in the Guild and new members are always welcome; dues are $20.00 per year. Guild meetings consist of a 1.1/2 hour workshop starting at
9:30
a.m., lunch (sometimes potluck) at 11:30 - 12:00 and the formal meeting begins at
12:00 p.m.
The Guild's major fundraiser is the Quilt Show which includes a quilt raffle and a display of the quilting projects of talented guild members. The raffle quilt is
generally hand-quilted by Guild members. A portion of the funds raised are used to purchase supplies to make 'Wee Care' Quilts
which are made each year and donated to various charities in the Chilliwack area.
At our Quilt Show on October 24th, 2009, we donated 59 'Wee Care' Quilts to four
different organizations and 34 quilts to Chilliwack's Hospice
Facility.
