Pictures of Cheryl's Child Care
(Please note: Many of these pictures are out of date -- there have been many changes to our environment but little time to work on this website)
We use this room for arts and crafts, group circle times and more.
During quiet time, children who do not nap will spend their time here doing quiet activities. On rare occasions (maybe 4 times per year) we may watch a DVD at quiet time.
The hand washing station and the craft table. The children sit on mats on the floor around the table to play. This eliminates the need for various table heights and allows the preschool and school-age children to work together. There are labeled bins with a variety of small toys, blocks and craft supplies within the children's reach to encourage independence.
Infants and toddlers do not play in this room but they do join us here for group circle and story times. When I am in the playroom with the younger children I can use the security cameras to observe the older children in the sunroom.
The school-age children also have chairs and folding tables to use if they want to use the computers, toys and craft supplies that are not developmentally appropriate for the preschool children to access independently.
We eat meals and snacks at separate tables in the dining room (pictured below).
By having different areas for meals and crafts there is no need to wait for the slow eaters to finish eating before the table can be used for crafts and crafts can be left to dry on the art table while we eat meals.
Each child has their own coat hook a cubby for their belongings.
There is a bench to sit on, a bulletin board and a digital picture frame so parents can see pictures of their children in action.
